People often ask how good our bespoke shirts really are. We obviously think they are among the best, and when you consider that our shirts are made in the same workshops, by the same seamsters and to the same standards as another shirtmakers shirts, who was nominated in GQ Style magazine as London’s best bespoke shirt maker and by Nick Foulkes in the Evening Standard as one of the top 5 bespoke shirt makers in the world, then you get an idea how good our shirts are.
We only use the best Italian and Swiss cottons (although we also carry Acorn for those who like the very English patterns they make available). We us very high quality stitching at 16 spi, single needle tailored throughout.
Our Mother of Pearl buttons are not just any pearl buttons, but are made from the finest grade MoP and are elegantly constructed to complement the quality of our shirts.
If you want to see the quality of our bespoke shirts for yourself then call us on 01684 878195 and ask for one of our consultants to bring samples to show you. Alternatively view our website at http://www.shirt-style.co.uk
Whether you like it or not, the trend for wearing a shirt with a suit but no tie is here to stay. However the traditional shirt collars such as Cutaway, standard point and spread really cry out for a collar and the button down collar is really, in my opinion, a little too casual, or week-endy for wearing with a suit (yes I know many do it but I personally feel it is wrong).
We introduce here a collar style that was made for one of our recent clients which we feel meets just the requirements of a no-tie shirt for wear with a suit.
It is a high collar concealed button down which gives the best of a standard collar and button down without the casual look of the visible buttons on the standard button down.
Four are shown below – what do you think? If you want a bespoke shirt like this just give us a call on 01684 878195 or visit http://www.shirt-style.co.uk
This was the title of an email marketing shot from Smythson that found its way into my inbox today. As a great believer in buying luxury where I am able to afford it, this advert caught my eye – and some beautiful products contained within the advert caught my eye further!

And here is one of my favourites…
If I had an iPhone, then I would snap one of these up. £80 in raspberry leather – a bargain in my book.
Available here http://www.smythson.com/SmythsonSite/product//RAS-1003957.htm in two weeks time.

As winter approaches the days are getting cooler and the evenings are getting darker. Outside of the office we need something a bit warmer than a poplin shirt, and a great look is an Oxford Cotton Button Down shirt and a woolen pullover.
For an Oxford Cotton, you can’t go wrong with the Alumo 7451 series of cloth, a beautifully woven 2-Ply cotton at an 8s x 24s yarn count weighing in at 160gr/m2.
This range is available in five plain solid colours – White, Pink, Light Blue, Sky Blue and Blue – with the pink, Sky and Blue also available in bankers stripe.
When combined with our non-fused soft roll button down collars, these make a great bespoke shirt, ideal for this time of the year. Our price for Bespoke in this fabric is £130 per shirt.
I am often asked by clients to recommend the fabric colours and patterns they should choose for their first five bespoke shirts. It is a very difficult question to answer as no two people are the same and their requirements are likely to be different.
However, most times the five shirts they end up choosing end up pretty similar each time, so here is a typical first five bespoke shirt list.
1. Plain White Alumo Supraluxe 120s with Double Cuff and Cutaway Collar – a great staple business shirt that can be worn with virtually any tie (or indeed no tie at all, and cufflinks. the double cuff is important as it allows the wearer to add a touch of personality to the shirt.
2. Sky Blue Alumo Supraluxe 120s with Double Cuff and Cutaway Collar – pretty much the same to be said for this as for the white shirt, again many ties will look great with this, but without a tie it can look a bit like a ‘uniform’ shirt.
3. Navy Striped Alumo Supraluxe 120s with 2-button cuff and Cutaway Collar – A great business shirt which can be worn without a suit, or with a blazer, on those business casual days. Avoid the double cuff, because without a suit it looks a little pretentious. Fine to wear with a sweater on top out of the office too.
4. Light Pink Alumo Soyela 170s with double cuff and cutaway Collar – a great bespoke shirt material, the Soyella is like silk. For days when you feel a little flamboyant, with or without a tie. Chain linked cufflinks look the part here.
5. Something that you feel fits your personality from our range of over 1000 fabrics.
As i said at the beginning everyone is different, so why not arrange a free no-obligation bespoke shirt consultation with us to find the shirts that are best for you, by calling us on 01684 878195 or by visiting our website at http://www.shirt-style.co.uk
